Second Reading of the By-law to Amend the Land Use By-law 24-16 was held on February 26th, 2025; at this time Council rejected the zoning application. The applicant appealed to the Nova Scotia Regulatory and Appeals Board which reversed Councils decision citing that the applicant’s proposal meets the criteria set out in the Municipal Planning Strategy.

The purpose of the adopted By-law is to: 

  1. change the zoning of the subject property at 1370 Southampton Road (PID 25394958) from Country Residential Zone (RCou) to Rural Industrial Zone (IRur);
  1. add “office” to the list of permitted as-of-right uses in the Rural Industrial Zone; and create Section 11.3.8 to maintain a 10 m buffer.
