What is Learn 2 Lead
Learn 2 Lead Cumberland is a community-based initiative that delivers accessible and affordable volunteer training and leadership development opportunities throughout Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. Established in 2014, it is now a partnership between the Towns of Amherst and Oxford, the Municipality of Cumberland, and the Nova Scotia Health Community Health Board.
Learn 2 Lead Cumberland offers high-quality training and certifications at a reduced cost—or free in some cases—to help strengthen the skills of volunteers who are essential to delivering services, programs, events, and activities in their communities. Recognizing that volunteers are the backbone of community life, the initiative supports those who give their time to recreation, sport, culture, and other community-based sectors.
We strive to bring workshops to as many communities across Cumberland County as possible, reducing barriers such as travel time and cost, and ensuring that training is both equitable and responsive to local needs. By investing in our volunteers, Learn 2 Lead Cumberland helps build stronger, more vibrant communities.
