The Municipality of Cumberland recognizes the important contribution that volunteer organizations make to the sustainability of our communities and our County and wishes to support their efforts by providing financial assistance when that is necessary. This program may be used to support any type of activity that benefits the community including recreation, health and healthy living, social opportunities and community service, stewardship of the environment, education and life-long learning, community economic development & tourism, heritage, culture, and creative arts.
Only not-for-profit organizations are eligible to apply. Individuals and businesses are ineligible.
District Grants
Each Councillor (8) and the Mayor is provided $10,000 per fiscal year to allocate to projects within their communities. Eligible projects may receive up to $3,000 and applications are received throughout the year until funding is depleted. Please contact your local Councillor or Mayor for more information and to submit your application.

Municipal Grant Programs
The following Municipal Grant Programs are now open for the 2026–2027 fiscal year!
- pdf Large Capital Project Grant(282 KB) – for capital projects $20,000 or over in total value.
- pdf Small Capital Project Grant(236 KB) – for capital projects under $20,000 in total value.
- pdf Community Programs Grant(244 KB) – for community-based programming and services.
- pdf Community Event Grant(250 KB) – for community-based events, festivals and workshops.
- pdf Large Operations and Maintenance Grant(255 KB) – operational support for larger facilities.
- pdf Small Operations and Maintenance Grant(240 KB) – operational support for smaller facilities, community halls, and museums.
Deadline
The application deadline for the above 6 Municipal Grants is March 31, 2026.

Final Project Report Form
At the completion of the project, all grant recipients are required to submit a Final Project Report Form.
