RFP issued for Pugwash library build
A request for proposal (RFP) has been issued for the design and build of a long-awaited library in the Village of Pugwash.
The RFP will close April 7,2022, with the expectation of site-prep and work to begin within 10 business days of formal council acceptance of a successful proponent. At this time, assuming an acceptable proposal is received and it's within budget, the RFP calls for completion of the project in the fall of 2022.
“There’s been lots of conversation and multiple versions of this project over many years. Council felt the time had come to stop talking about it and just build a library for the area,” said Mayor Murray Scott.
The preliminary budget for the new faculty is $2 million, with $1.5 million being funded by the municipality and the balance, $500,000, coming from the community in the form of fundraising, potential sale of naming rights and/or an area rate. The building will be based on the most recent conceptual plan provided by consultants A49.
