Autism N.S. Flag Raised in the Municipality of Cumberland

The Autism Nova Scotia flag was raised over the Municipality of Cumberland today, April 6, 2022, by Mayor Murray Scott and Elaine Mazur, regional autism support coordinator for the Cumberland Chapter of Autism Nova Scotia.

Mayor Scott proclaimed April to be Autism Acceptance Month and urged all employees, residents, and members of the business community to bring #Autism2Light and raise awareness this month. He also recognized the good work being carried out by Autism Nova Scotia as they work to make our province more inclusive and to create opportunities for autistic individuals. Ms. Mazur was thrilled to see the flag flown over Cumberland County as a message of acceptance for families and individuals living with autism, “As more and more children are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, it is important to be welcoming, supportive and accepting.”
